FIRM: BELMONT FREEMAN ARCHITECTS
ROLE: PROJECT ARCHITECT, CONSTRUCTION ADMINISTRATION
Renovation of children’s reading rooms at the Aguilar branch library, in a c.1900 Carnegie Library in East Harlem, A tight budget limited structural changes and compelled the architects to work with existing bookcases, refinished and rearranged. Design efforts focused on new lighting, carpeting, wall finishes, graphics, casework and furniture. A geography theme celebrates the multi-cultural character of the neighborhood.
